There are two themes: 1) Mechatronics and 2) Bioengineering

A research project is completed during the second semester and submitted by September. A list of research projects is produced each year based on staff research interests, but may also involve collaboration with external industrial organisations.

Core modules:
1) Mechatronics includes modules such as an Introduction to Advance Mechanical Engineering Science, Numerical Methods, Statistics for Engineering Systems, Advanced Electrical Systems, Advanced Digital Control, Advanced Signal Sensing and Processing, Uncertainty Quantification & Robust Design and Automation & Robotics

2) The Bioengineering Theme includes modules such as an Introduction to Advanced Mechanical Engineering Science, Orthopaedic Biomechanics, Mechanics of Biological Materials, Human Factors in Engineering, Computer methods for Orthopaedic Bioengineering, Biomaterials and Biological Flows.

Optional modules:
At least 4 options can be taken from a large selection of modules.
